Invenergy announced it has acquired development assets of the four-state 4GW Grain Belt Express wind power transmission project from Houston-based Clean Line Energy Partners.

Terms of the transaction, which requires regulatory approvals, were not made public.

Privately-owned Clean Line had no immediate comment on why it exited the $2.3bn project, which has been under development since last decade.

Grain Belt would transport low-cost energy generated by wind farms in western Kansas and the adjoining region 780-miles (1,255km) east to Indiana via Missouri and Illinois.
