International energy advisory and certification body DNV GL has completed a lenders’ technical due diligence on the WindPlus consortium’s 25MW Windfloat Atlantic array, set to be the maiden floating wind farm in the Iberian Peninsula when it is brought online next year.

Being built around a trio of semisubmersible WindFloat platforms topped with 8.4MW MHI Vestas turbines moored some 20km off Costa Viana do Castelo, Portugal, the under-construction €135m ($154m) development is the industry’s first project-financed floating wind farm, having last month netted almost €100m in new finance including €60m from the European Investment Bank (EIB).
