The UK renewable energy industry expressed widespread dismay and disappointment at a lack of government measures to encourage clean energy in finance minister Philip Hammond’s autumn Budget statement to parliament.

While the government said it will put a carbon emissions tax in place to replace the EU’s Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) in the event of a no-deal Brexit, other measures directed at helping renewables were notably absent from the Budget delivered by Hammond, who steers UK government finances in his role as chancellor of the exchequer.
