The US had a record 20.79GW of wind power capacity under construction at the end of the third quarter and another 17.16GW in late stage development – a combined 37.96GW that represents a 28% year-over-year increase, according to latest data from the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA).

Third quarter installations totaled 612MW, a slight improvement from 534MW for the same period a year earlier, raising total new capacity this year to 1.64GW
