Onshore wind will grow by a compound annual rate of 9% in Eastern Europe, Russia and the Caspian through 2027, according to new research by Wood Mackenzie Power & Renewables.

The analysts’ latest Eastern Europe Onshore Wind Market Outlook 2018 estimates the region will add 16GW of new wind capacity on land over the next 10 years.

“The development will be largely driven by the implementation of auction schemes in Russia and Kazakhstan and proposed auctions in Poland and Ukraine,” said lead author and market analyst Sohaib Malik.
