Global offshore wind number-one Orsted and Canada’s NaiKun Wind Energy have ended talks over potential development off British Columbia, Canada.

Orsted and NaiKun signed a letter of intent in September 2017 giving the Danish group exclusive rights to negotiate a joint development agreement over the 396MW Haida Energy Field project.

The partners said at the time that the 550 sq km site has “some of the strongest, most-consistent winds in the world” in shallow waters in Hecate Strait, between Haida Gwaii and Prince Rupert.
