Danish offshore wind pacesetter Orsted has chosen Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) as the preferred supplier for the first 900MW of its Greater Changhua projects off Taiwan, where the OEM also is slated to build a nacelle assembly facility in Taichung by 2021.
The order for approximately 112 of the manufacturer’s SG 8.0-167 DD offshore wind turbines is subject to certain conditions, such as the signing of a power purchase agreement by the end of this year, and a final investment decision by Orsted, which is expected in March 2019.
