France is in danger of missing the boat of European wind power expansion, warned the chief executive of industry body WindEurope.

Giles Dickson said France’s wind sector faces “a major stumbling block” with its permitting system for onshore development, while it needs to be more ambitious offshore.

“To meet current forecasts across Europe, France needs between 1 and 2GW of offshore wind tenders per year, over a five-year period.
