UK utility ScottishPower today set out its stall for a 100%-wind-powered future with the sale of its other generation assets and a pledge to more than double its existing capacity.
ScottishPower – a unit of Spanish energy giant Iberdrola – said it became “the first vertically-integrated UK energy company to shift completely from coal and gas to wind power” after agreeing the £702m ($925m) sale of a raft of gas and hydro assets totalling 2.57GW
