Strong demand for US renewables assets is forcing investors to accept relatively low returns or elevated levels of risk, as the wind and solar M&A boom rolls on.

“There’s a very persistent theme around lots of liquidity and strong demand for assets, both on the development and operating sides,” says Frank Nicklaus, principal at investment bank Greentech Capital Advisors, which has worked on a number of recent deals.
