UK regulator Ofgem has launched the sixth round of its offshore transmission owners (OFTO) regime with tenders for transmission links to three of the UK's largest wind projects, including Orsted’s 1.2GW Hornsea 1 off eastern England.

Ofgem said a total of £2bn ($2.63bn) of transmission assets are being tendered.

As well as Hornsea 1, set to be the world's largest operating offshore wind project when it enters service in 2020, the tenders cover the SSE-led 588MW Beatrice off Scotland and ScottishPower Renewables’ 714MW East Anglia 1 off eastern England.
