For the last five years Goldwind has been paying increasing attention to South America, and especially on making inroads in Brazil and Argentina, the region’s biggest markets.

But it was in Chile’s steadily-evolving renewable energy market that the Chinese OEM gained its first foothold. Last month it inaugurated the 82MW Punta Sierra wind complex, also Chinese-owned by Pacific Hydro.

With 130MW now installed in the country Goldwind is planning to expand in Chile, potentially including the provision of O&M services to third parties, aligning with its strategy for the rest of region.
