As it celebrated passing the 20GW capacity mark, the UK wind industry called on the country’s government to back up with concrete action its previous hints suggesting a rethink over onshore support is on the cards.

As the addition of Orsted’s 659MW Walney Extension offshore project pushed Britain past the 20GW installed milestone, industry body RenewableUK said the future ability of onshore wind to compete in contract-for-difference auctions remains clouded with doubt.
