El Paso Electric anticipates reaching a final decision late this year for addition of 370MW of capacity as the utility in far West Texas looks to diversity its energy supply mix.

El Paso on 30 June 2017 issued an all-source request for proposals for 50MW of capacity by 2022 and an additional 320MW by 2023.

The response from project developers may have exceeded the investor-owned utility’s expectations both in number of options and bids submitted, and in their complexity, technologies and costs associated with some of the proposals.
