UK-based JDR Cables has reeled in the multi-million-pound order to supply inter-array lines for Orsted’s 1.4GW Hornsea 2 offshore wind farm off Britain.

The contractor, owned by the TFKable Group, will deliver some 100km of high-voltage 66kV cabling for the giant development, which will be built around 165 Siemens Gamesa SG 8.0-167 turbines.

“This contract builds on experience from previous projects including Race Bank offshore wind farm, which we opened earlier this year, and Hornsea 1, currently in construction,” states Patrick Harnett, Orsted’s engineering, procurement and construction director for Hornsea 2.
