China will introduce Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) for 31 cities and provinces before the end of this year – but without controversial changes to subsidies for existing projects that drew protests from the renewable energy sector when they appeared in an earlier draft of the policy, Recharge understands.

The National Energy Administration (NEA) was originally expected to release the RPS policy by this June, but postponed the schedule due to pushback from the renewables industry over the details of the plan, according to multiple sources.
