Danish developer Orsted has awarded UK infrastructure group Balfour Beatty a multi-million pound contract to build the onshore substation for the 1.4GW Hornsea 2 wind farm 89km off the east coast of England.
The substation will transform the power produced by the Hornsea 2 project before connecting to the National Grid. With an enabling works phase already carried out earlier this year the main build will now commence.
