The Brazilian government expects that around 1GW of new wind power capacity will be contracted in the upcoming 31 August tender but did not confirm new solicitations for 2019 amid slow demand and political uncertainty.

“We have to meet our Paris agreement targets, so we’ll reserve some capacity for wind at this year’s tender,” Eduardo Azevedo, planning secretary at the Mines and Enegry Ministry told reporters in Rio de Janeiro.
