Danish developer Orsted has tapped cable-maker Prysmian for the multi-million-pound contract to supply interarray lines for Britain’s giant Hornsea 2 project, which, at 1.4GW, is set to become the world’s largest offshore wind farm when it enters service in 2022.

The order, for a total of more than 300km of 66kV high-voltage alternating current line, pushes the button on the contractor’s plans to upgrade its Wrexham, North Wales, facility to become the first factory in the UK to manufacture submarine array cable cores.
