The spectacular collapse of the 2GW Wind Catcher project in Oklahoma last week not only hurt American Electric Power’s clean energy aspirations, but also dented progress made by GE Renewable Energy to regain leadership from arch-rival Vestas in the key US turbine market.

At 800 turbines, Wind Catcher would have been the biggest publicly-disclosed supply deal for GE since it acquired Enron’s wind power business in 2000.
