The UK government has confirmed the next contracts-for-difference (CfD) auction for offshore wind and – for the first time – remote island wind will open by May 2019, with further rounds being held every two years from then on.
Energy minister Claire Perry is today set to outline details of a major support package for “less established technologies” such as offshore wind to power millions more homes and businesses over the next decade.
