Germany has added 429.5MW in new offshore wind turbines in the first half of 2018, but those machines still await grid connection, so that the country’s cumulated grid-linked offshore wind capacity remains at 5.4GW, new figures by Deutsche Windguard show.

The five wind groups that commissioned the offshore statistics – AGOW, the BWE, the Offshore Wind Foundation, WAB and VDMA Power Systems – say that although additions are behind those of last year, they are according to Germany’s 2020 offshore build-out plan.
