New York will launch a solicitation for 800MW of offshore wind capacity in the fourth quarter of 2018, responding to calls to move quickly to avoid losing potential jobs and supply-chain investment in the accelerating US offshore wind market.

New York had been expected to launch two 400MW solicitations this year and next, but instead will launch an 800MW round by the end of this year – matching the 800MW awarded by Massachusetts earlier this year to developer Vineyard Wind.
