Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has signed a letter of intent with German developer Wpd for exclusive negotiations over supply of 80 of the OEM’s SG 8.0-167 DD turbines for the 640MW Yunlin offshore wind project in the Taiwan Strait.
Wpd was the biggest winner in a 3.8GW auction held earlier in May by Taiwan’s economics ministry, offering offshore grid-connection capacity linked to the payment for 20 years of a relatively high feed-in tariff.
