The Nordex Group is analysing use of concrete or hybrid concrete-steel wind towers in the US in response to higher turbine costs likely to result from tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump on imported steel from most countries, Pablo Pulpeiro, chief executive for North America, told Recharge.

While the precise impact of the tariffs – 25% on steel and 10% on aluminum – on the wind industry cannot yet be fully assessed, he acknowledged they can make turbines more expensive.
