Germany-based OEM Senvion has launched a 4.2MW platform, joining other major turbine manufacturers in the 4MW range as it targets low- and medium-wind sites.

Senvion took the wraps off the 4.2M140 and 4.2M148 models at the AWEA Windpower industry event, which begins today in Chicago.

The new 4.2MW models are a “direct evolution” of the OEM’s 3MW series, said Senvion, which claimed they will “generate a significant increase in AEP, while driving down LCOE”, without offering specific figures.
