Subsea contractor N-Sea has landed a €6m ($7.2m)-plus contract with UK National Grid and Danish transmission system operator Energinet to clear unexploded ordnance (UXO) from the cable layroute for the 1.4GW Viking Link interconnector project.

Due to start mid-month, the assignment will cover a 770km path between Bicker Fen on the east coast of Britain and the Revsing substation in southern Jutland, Denmark, using the Noordhoek Pathfinder vessel, which is kitted out with a MagSense UXO detection system.
