Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) is tapping into the fast growing US repowering market by signing two agreements with a subsidiary of NextEra Resources to overhaul 508MW in three wind farms in Texas.
Under the first agreement, the German-Spanish OEM by year-end will repower 362 of Vestas’ V47 turbines at the Indian Mesa and Woodward wind farms through a hardware and control upgrade that will result in an increased output of 710kW from 660kW, and a higher availability for 10 additional years beyond the original design life.
