German developer Enertrag and local partner Genesis have struck a deal to jointly advance 1.8GW of wind power in South Africa, adding to hopes that the sector there can revive after the ending of a long-running policy stalemate.

Enertrag’s local unit ESA and Genesis said the deal represents “one of the largest renewable energy development agreements in South Africa’s history”.
