The renewables auction underway in the state of Victoria, Australia, has drawn in 3.5GW worth of bids, according to reports in the local media.

The auction put 650MW out to tender but has attracted significantly more bidding, state energy minister Lily D’Ambrosio reportedly told a news conference in Melbourne.

D’Ambrosio said the response to the reverse auction had been “overwhelming,” closing with more than 15 proposals of new wind and solar capacity.
