The UK wind sector is hailing another record year after turbines generated almost 15% of the nation’s power in 2017.

The wind power figure – up from 11% in 2016 – formed part of a best-ever 29.4% renewable electricity share, an increase from 25% on the previous year, according to latest UK government data.

That left renewables second only to gas (39.7%)
