Energy infrastructure specialist Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and China Steel Corporation (CSC) have signed a preferred supplier deal with OEM MHI Vestas for up to 1.5GW of turbines for a trio of wind farms being jointly developed in the Chuanghua area off Taiwan.

The wind farms, Zone 27 and Xidao – a combined 950MW of capacity being developed by CIP – and Zone 29, a 550MW project in CSC’s portfolio, would be brought online starting in 2021, using jacket-based “9MW-platform” V164 turbines installed in water depths of 30-45 metres.
