A quartet of Siemens Gamesa 7MW offshore wind turbines are in place at the Nissum Bredning pilot project off Denmark and ready to test a range of innovations designed to reduce cost-of-energy in the sector.

The turbines are in place in shallow waters at the nearshore site in the Bay of Thyborøn, said installation specialist Mammoet.

The DKr300m ($49.6m) project was won by partners Nissum Bredning Vindmøllelaug and Jysk Energi following a 2016 Danish government tender as a testbed for offshore wind technology and design innovations.
