The French government has come under immediate fire from energy giant Engie over plans to change the terms of offshore wind projects awarded in 2012 and 2014, reflecting the high cost of the subsidies offered then against latest industry power-price benchmarks.

The criticism that the changes would “weaken” the industry comes after the government said it wanted to “renegotiate and possibly cancel offshore wind projects” for a combined 3GW off France’s northwestern coast.
