Maine’s wind industry has filed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Governor Paul LePage’s executive order last month imposing a moratorium on issuance of permits for new onshore projects in most areas of the state.

LePage, a Republican who is a long-time industry critic, said the open-ended ban is necessary to allow a new panel to study how wind turbines affect Maine’s $6bn tourism economy.
