Iberdrola signalled a renewed focus on forging alliances in its renewable energy activities with the launch of a programme called ‘Partnering Green’.

The Spanish group said partnership arrangements could make some projects in its 25GW global pipeline more competitive by unlocking lower cost of capital.

Iberdrola CEO Ignacio Galan noted that the company at one stage had a joint venture with Vattenfall in the UK’s giant East Anglia offshore wind zone before “we each decided to take a different road” and develop individual projects separately.
