The US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) this year expects to hold a lease sale by the end of September for two additional areas off the coast of Massachusetts for commercial wind energy development, the agency tells Recharge.
The areas are OCS-A 0502, comprising 248,015 acres (1,004sq km), and OCS-A 0503 (140,554 acres). They are located in federal waters south-southwest of Nantucket that were put up for lease in January 2015 but did not draw bids.
