Danish utility Orsted has received an approved environmental impact assessment (EIA) for four offshore wind projects located some 35-60 kilometres off Taiwan’s Changhua County that have a combined capacity of 2.4GW.

“Today's approvals mark an important milestone for Orsted's expansion in Asia and the realization of Taiwan's ambitious energy targets", chief executive Martin Neubert said.

The environmental OK for Orsted’s Taiwanese projects comes amid a flurry of activity in what promises to be Asia’s hottest offshore market in the coming years.
