A process to award further offshore wind leases off the UK could start late this year or in 2019, said seabed landlord The Crown Estate.

The body is exploring potential new leasing following the UK government’s support for a possible 10GW of further offshore wind in the 2020s.

The Crown Estate said its early work leads it to favour a “leasing model where developers identify sites within pre-defined, but relatively wide regions of seabed”.
