German utility E.ON has commissioned the 20MW Texas Waves power storage project on the sites of the existing Pyron and Inadale wind farms in West Texas.
The two 10MW lithium-ion energy batteries are able to react quickly for the grid operator, Electric Reliability Council of Texas (Ercot), to cope with changes in the energy requirements and thereby increase both the reliability and efficiency of the system.
