Innovate UK has put up £1m ($1.4m) in grant funding for a project aimed at reducing the amount of wasted electrical power experienced through cable losses in the transmission, distribution and renewable energy sectors.

Invented by the UK energy microbusiness Enertechnos, the new cable technology, dubbed the Capacitive Transfer System, can significantly improve efficiency during electricity transmission.

Enertechnos, and supplier Eland Cables, are working on the project with Brunel University’s Institute of Energy Futures, and The Welding Institute.
