UK seabed manager The Crown Estate will lead a study to look at the benefits of floating offshore wind in Scotland, aiming to help pave the way for the government to make new policy decisions to support the industry's growth.
The move comes as floating wind is considered to have significant global potential, enabling access to high wind resource in deep waters compared to fixed foundations, which can often be too expensive to build in deeper waters where wind conditions are often better.
