India’s wind industry expects to install between 3GW and 4GW in the 2018/19 fiscal year as the market stabilises from additions of no more than 1.5GW in the 2017/18 period ending in March, said the head of the body representing OEMs and other key suppliers in the country, who also predicts auction tariffs will rise.

Additions at the higher end of that range in 2018/19, driven by last year's first central auctions and limited resumption of procurement by states, would represent a return to “a certain sort of normality” after the “rude shock” of the current financial year, DV Giri, secretary general of the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA), told Recharge.
