On 1 December, the US wind industry had proposed 465 utility-scale projects totaling 72.56GW nameplate capacity for installation through the end of 2020 – more than all other forms of energy together, excluding natural gas, according to newly-released Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) data.

That is about 86% of 84.94GW of wind capacity now installed by the US during the last 35 years.
