Governor Andrew Cuomo has called for procurement of at least 800MW of offshore wind power between two solicitations this year and in 2019, a move he believes will begin to position New York State as leader of the emerging US industry.

Those moves will be followed by a “set schedule” of solicitations to reach a 2030 target of 2.4GW – the highest of any state – and create competition among developers to build some of the largest projects in the US, he said.
