A new renewable energy target contained in the Scottish government’s first energy strategy shows “huge ambition”, according to industry body Scottish Renewables.
The strategy commits Scotland to a goal of generating the equivalent of half its total heat, transport and electricity consumption to be supplied from renewable sources by 2030.
The Scottish government analysis supporting the target said installed renewable electricity capacity must almost double from 9.5GW
