Hamburg-based clean energy hub Clusteragentur Erneuerbare Energien has given its German Renewables Award to E.ON and Statoil’s 385MW Arkona offshore wind project in the Baltic Sea for an environmentally-friendly process that protects steel turbine foundations from corrosion.

“The procedure developed by E.ON reduces the environmental impact and at the same time lowers the costs for the construction of offshore wind farms,” explained an independent jury from science and industry.
