Denmark’s Orsted – formerly Dong Energy – has selected Semco Maritime to participate in the engineering design of substations for the 1.4GW Hornsea 2 wind farm off eastern England.

Semco, which has been chosen as electrical engineering consultant, will develop the electrical and mechanical engineering design for the main offshore substation and for the reactive compensation station.

The Hornsea 2 offshore wind farm will be built some 89km off the Yorkshire coast and is set to become the world’s largest wind when it becomes operational in 2022.
