Brazil has set its first 2018 power auction for 4 April, when it plans to contract new capacity from wind, solar, biomass and large hydro plants, further strengthening the restart of its annual power tendering programme that was stopped in 2016.

Known as an A-4 tender, the new capacity to be contracted in 2018 will have to be operational by the beginning of 2022, nearly four years after the tender.
