China’s Envision Energy has unveiled its largest turbine to-date, a 4.5MW model designed for medium- to high-wind environments.

The EN148-4.5MW, the latest evolution of the company’s 4MW platform, flies a 148-metre rotor and uses a “flexible” drive train architecture that “optimises site parameters to deliver the maximum energy output possible” at sites with up to nine-metres per second average wind velocities.
